About Us

Colonial Crafts of Connecticut was founded by friends Anne Marie Elder and Rick Liegl who have a shared passion for connecting people through traditional handcraft. What began as a way to share knowledge about spoon and bowl carving, green woodworking, blacksmithing, broom making, basketry, and other pre‑industrial skills has grown into a vibrant community of makers and instructors.

Today, Colonial Crafts serves as a resource for museums, historical societies, and cultural events throughout New England, helping to preserve and promote the region’s craft traditions. Through monthly open studio meetups and hands‑on workshops, we aim to build a welcoming community where people can learn, create, and keep these timeless skills alive. We meet third Sunday of each month at 17 Trout Drive Granby CT. Check the Events page for any changes due to holidays.
